It’s the beginning of a new year and in this case, a new decade. We’ve been wired to feel we need to make New Year’s resolutions to eat healthier, work out and improve our finances. However, only about 8% of us achieve our New Year’s goals. Matter of fact, according to a study by Strava, on January 12th most people report giving up on their resolution.
While I can’t help you achieve your goals, here’s a link to a great article on increasing your chances of being successful. And most importantly, try self-compassion! Cut yourself some slack and remember that being human means being imperfect. When you fall for that donut, don’t despair, and don’t throw in the towel. Treat yourself with care and understanding and then recommit to your goal the following day.
Remember, you aren’t likely to achieve your New Year’s resolutions by being hard on yourself. Instead, boost your willpower through a series of small and strategic steps that will help you succeed. I’d love to hear from you. What inspires you or motivates you to stay the path? Let’s do this.
